Our Mission
At Mind Over Matters, we recognise that you are a unique individual with diverse experiences, strengths, and challenges. We believe that everyone has the potential for growth and self-improvement, irrespective of your past. We also understand that your mental health is impacted by all areas of your life – emotional, physical, spiritual, sexual, financial and social – and at times, we may need to explore each of these areas to improve your overall wellbeing. By taking this holistic approach, we'll work with you to identify the things that bring balance and meaning to your life, and help you develop the tools and strategies you need to create a deeper sense of purpose.
We also understand that seeking help in a small community town can be uncomfortable, especially concerning confidentiality. Please know that your privacy is extremely important to us, and we are committed to being transparent about any potential conflicts of interest. You can trust that we prioritise your confidentiality as we work together.

Our Team
I’m Tiarni, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and co-founder of Mind Over Matters.
Sometimes, life can throw us unexpected curveballs that feel overwhelming that we can’t manage on our own, and nor should we. We all deserve to be heard during these tough times, to have someone who understands our challenges and can help guide us back on track at our own pace and without judgment. I’m here to support you through those difficult moments while also helping you rediscover who you are, who you want to be, and what’s been holding you back from getting there.
Whether you’ve experienced trauma, abuse, relationship and attachment issues, substance use concerns, family violence, grief and loss, or other challenges, I can help you make sense of those experiences and understand their impact on your life and choices. Together, we’ll work on developing strategies to manage the effects they have on your daily life.
I value authenticity and promise to keep our sessions down-to-earth and real. You can expect warmth, honesty, knowledge, and maybe even a bit of humour.
I have 14 years’ of experience in the mental health sector—covering clinical, therapeutic, and psychosocial support.
My particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Neurodivergence- I'm here to help you thrive and own your awesomeness in a world designed for everyone else!
Young People- Supporting young people as they learn to navigate the sometimes scary ‘adult’ world
Relationships- Exploring attachment styles and maladaptive schemas to promote stronger and more meaningful relationships
Identity and life transitions- Helping you to work out who you are at this time of your life and learning to accept this new chapter.
Non-directive pregnancy support counselling-Whether you're recently pregnant, expecting, or a new mum, I'm here to help you navigate the ups and downs.
I'm George, co-founder of Mind Over Matters.
I am accredited in providing mental health psychological support and have many years’ experience as a Social Worker across a variety of fields. Stating this, I’m not here to bore you with fancy words or certificates.
The reality is, sometimes we find ourselves not feeling the way we should, and this can feel really crappy. This might be due to our genetics, our upbringing, a life event or something completely different. No matter the reason, I am here to listen and support you through it.
My approach is about connecting, listening and trying to understand your pain, your struggles, your strengths and your world. We then come up with some ways forward to tackle these together.
I want to briefly highlight some areas where I think I can be especially helpful due to my training and my own life experience:
Neurodivergence - Lets face it, some of us are a bit different in the way we experience the world, which brings some challenges when we need to function in the modern neurotypical world.
Alcohol and other Drugs- There is no better example of the mind-body connection than how sometimes we can slip into managing our pain with alcohol and other drugs. We know it’s not the right way to deal with pain, but changing habits is hard yeah?
Identity and life adjustment- I'm here to support you through significant life changes, challenges to your identity, and confidence struggles.
Stress Management - How does an animal who has been just attacked by a predator, then manage to literally just fall asleep like nothing happened? As I’m coming to learn, life is really about how we deal with the stressors that we are faced with. I aim to find ways to help people develop skills to deal with this.
