Our Approach to Counselling & Mental Health Support
Neuro-Affirming A neuro-affirming approach recognises that people experience, process and interact with the world in different ways. Rather than focusing on what is “wrong” or needs to be fixed, we seek to understand how your brain works, how your experiences have shaped you, and what environments and supports help you thrive.
Together, we explore challenges without losing sight of your strengths, preferences, identity and individual ways of thinking and experiencing the world. The focus is on building understanding, radical self-acceptance and practical strategies that work with your brain, rather than against it.
Evidence-Based Practice Our work is grounded in approaches with strong research support including Neuro-affirming Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-focused modalities.
Trauma-Informed We understand that many people seeking mental health support carry histories of trauma, often unrecognised or unprocessed. A trauma-informed approach means we always prioritise safety, work at your pace, and never push you further than your nervous system can sustain.
Person-Centred You are the expert on your own life. Our role is to provide the clinical knowledge, the relational safety, and the reflective space. Yours is to bring your experience, your goals, and your pace.
Lived Experience Our practice is informed by lived experience as well as professional expertise. We understand from the inside what it means to navigate neurodivergence.
